The current NAR fair housing training cycle runs from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027. Every existing REALTOR® member is required to complete two hours of approved fair housing training inside that window. This is on top of the state's own continuing-education requirement, which Washington brokers have been meeting since the 2022 rule change took effect.

Washington's CE rule, codified at RCW 18.85, layers two distinct fair housing obligations on top of each other. First-time renewal brokers must complete the 6-hour Washington Real Estate Fair Housing course as part of their initial 90 clock hours of CE. Every subsequent renewal — for both brokers and managing brokers — requires the 3-hour Washington Real Estate Fair Housing course, plus the 3-hour Current Issues in Washington Residential Real Estate course, with the remaining hours available as electives. NAR-member brokers in Washington therefore have to track both the state CE clock and the federal-association membership clock; failing the NAR two-hour requirement by December 31, 2027 affects membership but not the state license.
