Refund Policy

Realestateschool.org: Oregon Cancellation and Refund Policy (Distance Learning)

To cancel or withdraw, send written notice to support@realestateschool.org. Include your name and the course or program you wish to cancel; an order number is helpful if available. For assistance, call (425) 775-2313.

1. Five-day cancellation. If you cancel within five (5) business days of enrollment, we refund all payments related to your enrollment agreement, except any cost permitted by Oregon law for separately priced lesson materials that are not returned or are returned damaged or marked. Accessing online lessons does not, by itself, forfeit this cancellation right. We do not deduct a registration or withdrawal fee from a refund under this five-day cancellation provision. Online materials included in tuition do not carry a separate materials deduction.

2. Enrollment date. For online enrollment, the enrollment date is determined under OAR 715-045-0037(2): receipt of the student's signed enrollment agreement with access granted, or receipt of enrollment information through a secure registration process in which the student acknowledges the enrollment obligations.

3. Registration and materials charges after the five-day period. We may retain a registration fee only when disclosed at enrollment and permitted by Oregon law. It will not exceed 15% of tuition or $250, whichever is less. Any books, supplies, or other charges must also be separately disclosed and legally permitted. For any shipped books and supplies, unopened items returned within five days of receipt are refunded as required by the rule. This policy does not create a fee that was not disclosed at enrollment.

4. Pro-rata refund through 50% completion. After the five-day period, if you withdraw or your enrollment is terminated after instruction begins and you have completed no more than 50% of the program, we refund payments exceeding earned tuition and other lawful charges. Earned tuition equals the program tuition multiplied by the completed portion of the program, using completed lesson assignments divided by the total lesson assignments for the program, as provided in OAR 715-045-0037(3). At exactly 50% completion, we continue to provide the pro-rata calculation as a student-favorable policy. Before instruction begins, no tuition is earned; only charges permitted under item 3 may be retained. We do not count the same charge twice.

5. After 50% completion. Once more than 50% of the program is completed, the full tuition is ordinarily owed and no tuition refund is due, subject to the hardship and school-default provisions below and any other applicable legal rights.

6. Withdrawal fee. Any disclosed, legally permitted withdrawal fee will not exceed $25.

7. Hardship and school default. If disabling illness or accident, death in the immediate family, or another circumstance beyond your control causes you to leave, we arrange a prorated tuition settlement that is fair to you and the school. If the school discontinues or cancels the program or closes before delivering the contracted services, all tuition and fees are refunded unless HECC determines that arrangements for a comparable program at another institution, at no additional cost beyond the original contract, permit a pro-rata refund.

8. Refund timing and payment. Within forty (40) days after notification of cancellation, withdrawal, termination, or completion, we provide a written statement of allowable charges and payments received, together with any refund due. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Where a third party paid for enrollment, the applicable refund and statement may be provided to that payer as Oregon law permits.

This policy follows OAR 715-045-0037 for distance learning, including its allowance for refund calculations more favorable to the student. Nothing in this policy limits a refund or remedy required by applicable law.
